The victory takes Arsenal to 34 points as well as maintaining their stay at the top of the table and a two-point gap over Manchester City who are in second place.

Arsenal have lost only one (1) match all season and are regarded as the early-season title contenders as Arteta's side continue their good run of form.

When quizzed if his side are genuinely in contention to win the title, Arteta admitted that as of the present moment they are but the situation could change at any time.

Arteta said in his post-match press conference as reported by Football London: "We are today. But in football, today and tomorrow is a very different. So let’s enjoy time.

"We are getting much better as a team and competing much better. We are getting really good results right now, but this is a long long…"

The Arsenal manager was also asked what the chances of Arsenal winning the league are especially with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side breathing down the necks of the Gunners.

Arteta replied: "Do something: just look at the last six years, what Manchester City have done. With the best manager in the world, the best team in the world.

"They have shown it consistently in every single competition. We have to be very very respectful of that."

Arsenal will play their final Premier League fixture before the World Cup break on Saturday, November 12 when they travel to the Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
