Arsenal and Manchester United have received a transfer boost as Ghanaian summer target rejects Ajax contract extension
Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has refused a one-year extension on his current Ajax contract as he sets his sights on a summer move to the Premier League.
Kudus rejects Ajax extension
Kudus’ impressive showing with Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar put him on the radar of top clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, and the 22-year-old looks set to take advantage of his recent popularity to make a move to one of these teams or another top team.
The midfielder has reportedly rejected Ajax’s attempts to extend his current contract, which expires in 2025, which could force the Dutch club to sell him this summer in order to get the maximum value possible.
Kudus could be on the move when the summer window opens this July, with a rumoured €40 million fee unlikely to cause any problems for suitors.
Impressive Kudus on the verge of Ajax exit
The Ghanaian midfielder enjoyed a superb World Cup campaign with Ghana scoring two goals in three games as Ghana came close to securing a place in the round of 16.
He has continued that impressive form with Ajax in the Eredivisie despite the Amsterdam club’s struggles this season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions and assisting six more.
Kudus’ versatility, creativity, and eye for goal have made him a prime target for clubs this summer and with the midfielder having his heart set on a move as well, his immediate future appears to be outside the Eredivisie.
