Neiva's imminent departure from the reigning Uganda Premier League champions comes in the wake of Vipers SC's recent elimination from the CAF Champions League's first preliminary round by Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy.

Vipers SC’s Brazilian coach Leonard Martins Neiva is reportedly contemplating stepping down from his role at the club, according to reports.

Swift Sports reports that Neiva, who took charge of the club in July could step down from his position at Vipers soon, with an update on the decision expected next week.

Neiva's imminent departure from the reigning Uganda Premier League champions comes in the wake of Vipers SC's recent elimination from the CAF Champions League's first preliminary round by Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy.

The unexpected defeat at the hands of Jwaneng Galaxy dealt a blow to Vipers' aspirations in the competition, leaving the dressing room split and torn according to further reports.

The Brazilian native took over the reins as Vipers' head coach in July of this year, succeeding Alex Isabirye Musongola.

Isabirye's surprising resignation earlier had led to Neiva's appointment, as the club sought to navigate its way forward.

Neiva's coaching experience spans beyond Uganda, having managed prominent teams such as Tanzania Giants Yanga Africans and Sudanese side Al-Merrikh in the past.

Vipers SC's upcoming challenges are not limited to their coaching staff.

In addition to the coaching uncertainty, Vipers SC is also dealing with the potential departure of Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, their Brazilian striker.

Rodriguez, who joined the team only three months ago, is reportedly considering leaving Vipers despite being under contract for a 24-month period.

While the exact reasons behind his potential exit remain unclear, the atmosphere within the team's dressing room reportedly remains tense following their unexpected Champions League exit.x

Rodriguez's arrival had been anticipated as a boost to Vipers' offensive capabilities. During preseason matches, he showcased flashes of brilliance, particularly in set-piece situations.

His stunning free-kick goal against Maroons in the FUFA 8 classification match demonstrated his potential impact on the team's performance.

The Venoms will begin their defence of the Uganda Premier League, with their first match scheduled against Gaddafi FC on September 17, 2023.
