Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been sidelined for an extended period after sustaining an injury.

The England left-back will be out for weeks after suffering from a muscular injury, which comes as a huge blow to Erik ten Hag.

Luke Shaw joins Mason Mount who recently sustained an injury and will miss out on Man United’s next two games on the sideline.

Assessment is ongoing but there are fears that Shaw will be out for some time which could extend to several months.

Man United statement on Shaw’s injury

Manchester United have released a statement that Luke Shaw would be out for "a number of weeks."

However, according to reports from the Sun, United are still looking into the extent of the injury and fears that he may be out for a few months.

The former Southampton player's career has been plagued by injuries, yet last season he only missed three games due to them.

Shaw has been ever present for Manchester United and even started their first two games of the season.

As it stands, he will miss the Man United home game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and the trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal the following week.

Meanwhile, fellow teammate Mason Mount who recently signed from Chelsea have also been sidelined due to an injury.

He is set to miss Manchester United's next few games with the news coming as a blow for Erik Ten Hag.
