The mental illness tormented Mukasa, forcing him not only into retirement off football but also to the dirtiest of Kampala's ditches and ruins.

Legend Andrew 'Fimbo' Mukasa is regarded as one of Uganda and East Africa's greatest goal-scorers.

Described as having unmatched flair as well as a rare goal-scoring touch, Mukasa was a gem that will take an eternity to replicate.

However, a projected fantastic career was cut short after the escalation of a mental problem, that close friends felt he had had from his toddler years.

"Nagwa Eddalu (I got a serious mental illness) but after prayers from Brother Ronnie (Makabai), I haven't suffered the same again," Fimbo told local church, Holy City Entebbe.

"Since the prayers, I am now okay. I feel fine and even received an award recognizing my contributions to football," he added in his testimony.

In his retirement, Mukasa received the Presidential Award at the 2022/23 End of the Season awards ceremony held at Kampala Sheraton Hotel in 2023.
