June 18th marked the end of the first round of the European championships. During the round, numerous records have been broken.

As the European Championship continues to unfold, here are some of the records that have already been broken in match day one of the tournament.

Various names from football history and promising talents emerged as protagonists, alongside surprising achievements like the fastest goal in European Championship history.

Nedim Bajrami - Fastest Goal

One of the lesser-known record holders in this European Championship is Albania's footballer, who secured the title for the fastest goal in tournament history by scoring against Italy just 23 seconds into the match. This achievement broke Dmitri Kirichenko's 2004 record of 67 seconds.

Lamine Yamal - Youngest Debutant and Assister

As expected, FC Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal began his European Championship journey by breaking several records. He became the youngest player to participate in a match at the age of 16 years and 338 days, nearly a year younger than the previous record holder. He also became the youngest assist provider in tournament history, delivering a key pass to Dani Carvajal and marking another record at his tender age.

Arda Güler - Youngest Goal Scorer

At the end of the opening day, Real Madrid's Burn Güler etched his name in European Championship history with a stunning goal against Georgia. Aged 19 years and 114 days, he became the youngest goal scorer in the competition, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's previous record by 14 days.

Andreas Christensen - Perfect Passing Efficiency

Danish defender Andreas Christensen made history by becoming the first defender to complete a match with a 100% passing accuracy. Playing for Barcelona, he successfully completed all 89 passes attempted, achieving a milestone not seen since the 1980 European Championship for defenders attempting at least 76 passes in a match.

Pepe - Oldest Player to Compete in a European Championship

At 41 years and 113 days, Pepe made his mark in the Portugal-Czech Republic match as the oldest player to compete in the final stages of a European Championship. He surpassed Hungary's Gabor Kiraly, who held the previous record of 40 years and 86 days set in 2016.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Most European Championships Contested

As with Pepe and Lamine, Cristiano Ronaldo added another record to his illustrious career from the very start of his appearance in the 2024 European Championship. The forward, known for breaking numerous records throughout his career, became the first player to participate in six different European Championships.

Match Day 1- Record for the most goal in a single European Championship

Another notable achievement of the 2024 edition was breaking the record for the most goals scored on the first day of the tournament. Previously held by the 2000 European Championship in the Netherlands and Belgium with 24 goals, the 2024 tournament surpassed this with 34 goals, considering the addition of four more matches per day compared to the event held 24 years ago.
