Fans danced joyously as Gor Mahia lifted the FKF Premier League trophy in a colorful coronation ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

Pomp, color, and celebrations filled Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos as Gor Mahia were officially crowned the 2023/2024 FKF Premier League champions.

The vibrant coronation ceremony took place right after their nail-biting 4-3 victory against Bidco United in the final game of the season.

From the first whistle it was clear that Gor Mahia was in a league of their own.

Striker Benson Omalla’s impressive brace in the first half set the tone for a game that was every bit as thrilling as the season that preceded it.

Mark Shaban and Ronney Onyango also made significant contributions scoring crucial goals that ultimately sealed the win for Gor Mahia.

The stadium erupted in joy as the final whistle blew marking not just a victory in the match but a celebration of Gor Mahia's 21st title which they had clinched with three matches remaining in the season.

The scene was a paradoxical frenzy of elation and disbelief—as fans celebrated a victory that felt both monumental and surreal.

This season, Gor Mahia finished with a commanding 73 points which is a testament to their consistency and prowess on the field.

The fans, some sporting the team’s vibrant green and white colors, others waving flags and singing, were the heartbeat of the celebration.

They danced and cheered their spirits unbroken by the competitive tension that characterized the match’s final moments.

Off the field, the mood was equally jubilant as players, coaching staff, and officials shared hugs and handshakes, their faces lit up with the joy of a hard-earned triumph.

"Today marks a historic moment for Gor Mahia. This victory is not just about this season but about the legacy we continue to build," said Johnathan McKinstry, the outgoing coach of Gor Mahia.

Elsewhere in the league, the fight for survival was just as fierce.

Shabana FC secured their Premier League status for another season with a crucial win over Murang’a SEAL at the SportPesa Arena.

Their 14th place finish, with 38 points, ensures they will avoid the relegation playoff. Similarly, Sofapaka fought off relegation fears by defeating Nzoia Sugar 3-1, though they face a playoff match against Naivas FC to confirm their place next season.

But the day belonged to Gor Mahia who once again proved why they are one of the most celebrated clubs in Kenyan football history.
