Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo on his career
While his natural talent is undoubted, Ronaldo believes it is the combination of his ability and obsessive training regime that has allowed him to achieve so much success.
"Talent without work is nothing and work without talent is nothing. They have to work together at the same time," Ronaldo stated per Goal.
"I have both. I can't say that I have more of one than the other. Small details will make the difference."
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner acknowledges that maintaining such high standards of discipline and consistency over a prolonged period is incredibly difficult.
"Consistency is the most difficult thing. Are you willing to do that? That's the main point because everyone wants to be Cristiano, but doing it is difficult," he added.
"Discipline is the most difficult thing. I fight against my mind sometimes, we are all human beings. Of course, I don't like going to the gym every day, no one does, but you have to do it."
Ronaldo's insatiable work ethic and drive to improve has allowed him to forge an extraordinary career spanning two decades at the very highest level.
He has won a staggering over 30 trophies, including five Champions Leagues and seven league titles with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus before joining Al-Nassr immediate after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
