Nottingham Forest defeated Brighton in a penalty shootout to qualify for the semifinal of the FA Cup.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side headed into the game looking to make it to the semifinal as they eyed the FA Cup trophy.

They had to work hard for the victory as they claimed a 4-3 win over Brighton via a penalty shootout.

As it happened

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler made two changes to his side that came away from Manchester City with a 2-2 draw in the Premier League earlier this month.

Nuno Espirito Santo has made three changes to the Nottingham Forest team, with Taiwo Awoniyi coming in to lead the attack in place of the injured Chris Wood, while Ola Aina returned to the side after being with the Super Eagles on international duty.

The first half failed to produce any goal as both teams created limited chances to open the scoring, with the same happening in the second half as the game entered extra time.

Both teams played a draw in extra time, taking the game into a penalty shootout. During the penalty shootout, Brighton lost two and Forest missed one penalty, with the game ending 4-3 and sending Forest to the semi-final.
