Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa suffers shock as newly promoted City dismantle Pillars
It was a day to forget for Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa and his Kano Pillars teammates on their trip to Lagos in the Football League.
The home side opened the scoring early in the game, with Sikiru Alimi finding the net within the first five minutes after side-footing Seun Ogunribido’s low cross.
Abubakar Ibrahim then doubled the lead for the Sky Blue Stars in the 40th minute to make it a comfortable scoreline for the Stars before Kano Pillars managed to reduce the deficit just before halftime, with Abba Adam scoring for the visitors.

The second half saw both teams creating opportunities. Remo captain, Nduka Junior, came close with a free kick, and Akanni Qudus had a shot cleared off the line after dribbling past the Pillars goalkeeper.
Pillars also threatened, with club legend Rabiu Ali testing their hosts’ goalkeeper Kayode Bankole on multiple occasions.
Despite the late pressure from Kano Pillars, Remo Stars held on to secure the hard-fought but deserved victory at home.
The win was the sixth consecutive victory for Ogunmodede and his Stars in the league, extending their unbeaten run across competitions to eight matches.
