Ferdinand Omanyala returns to the track this weekend, aiming to bounce back after a rare defeat in recent competition.
Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala will make a return to the track again this Saturday, March 29 just days after a surprising defeat in South Africa.
The Africa’s fastest man will compete in the men’s 100m and 4x100m relay at a major regional athletics meet in Kampala.
Omanyala’s return to competition comes after teenage South African star Karabo Letebele stole the headlines at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 1 in Pretoria.

"We are glad that Omanyala, who is the fastest athlete over 100 meters in Africa and among the top 10 in the world, will grace our national trials. He will compete in the men's 100m and the 4x100m relay," said UAF president Dominic Otuchet as per Xinhua.
The Ugandan event is part of intiatives to prepare African sprinters for the upcoming 2025 World Championships.
"Omanyala will also be involved in a program to inspire young Ugandan sprinters," Otuchet added.
