Nigerian and African legend Perpetua Nkwocha has sent a message of encouragement to the Nigerian Super Falcons ahead of the 2023 FIFAWWC.
Legendary Nigerian Women’s star Perpetua Nkwocha has sent a goodwill message to the Super Falcons ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian Super Falcons are one of four countries representing Africa in the global showpiece hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Super Falcons have a battle on their hands having been drawn in Group B alongside giants Canada, co-hosts Australia and newbies the Republic of Ireland.
Nkwocha charges Super Falcons
Nigeria’s Falcons begin their campaign at the FIFAWWC this Friday against one of the favourites in Group B Canada.
Ahead of that opener against the North Americans, Falcons legend and multiple African champion Nwkocha has penned a message of support to the team.
The former striker wished the Falcons well and charged them to go all out to show how good and talented they all are.
“I want to use this medium to wish our own Super Falcons and the entire coaching staff a good outing in the 2023 FIFAWWC in Australia & New Zealand,” Nkwocha posted on Twitter.
“It’s time to show the world how determined, talented you are Go all out and give all your best. I wish you all injury-free games,” the legend added.
Perpetua knows what it takes and means to play at the FIFA Women’s World Cup having featured in four different editions with the Super Falcons.
She debuted at the global showpiece in the 2003 edition, with her last appearance coming in the 2015 campaign.
The 47-year-old is a four-time African Footballer of the Year and scored 80 goals in 99 appearances for Nigeria.
She is the current coach of the Swedish club Clemensnas IF, where she has been since she hung her boots in the summer of 2015.
Nigeria vs Canada: Time of the game and h2h
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will go head-to-head with their illustrious counterparts from Canada this weekend with kick-off slated for 3:30 am Nigerian time on Friday.
Both teams will lock horns as they get their 2023 FIFAWWC underway at the beautiful Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on July 21.
These two nations are no strangers to each other having met four times, with the game on Friday the fifth between them.
The Canadians will go into this one as slight favourites given their better head-to-head against the Falcons.
Canada has won two of the previous four matches between them compare to one for Nigeria while the other ended a in draw.
However, when both sides last met, it ended in a four-goal thriller following a 2-2 draw in a Friendly.
