African Football League: Enyimba to battle Wydad Casablanca

African Football League is a collaboration between CAF and FIFA.

Enyimba drawn against Moroccan Wydad Casablanca in African Football League (AFL) maiden edition.

The AFL is designed to showcase the best of African club football and provide football fans in Africa and around the world, the opportunity to see and enjoy the very best of the beautiful game on the African Continent with the Africa’s highest ranked football clubs selected to partcipate.

The League is a collaboration between CAF and FIFA.

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Champions, Enyimba, will face Wydad Casablanca from Morocco in the inaugural edition of the African Football League.

Enyimba was drawn in Pot one and shared a group alongside Simba from Tanzania, Atlético Petróleos from Angola, and TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The draw, which took place on Saturday in Cairo, Egypt's capital, will see the nine-time Nigerian League champions and the 22-time Moroccan League champions go head to head.

After an early departure in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League against Ahly Benghazi, the People's Elephant will be eager to better their performance in the African Football League.

Finidi George's team was eliminated in the first round after a goalless draw at the Aba Township Stadium following a 4-3 loss in Libya.

The competition will be played in a knockout format, with each team attempting to advance to the semifinals.

The African Football League is a fresh new CAF competition that will begin in October.

In other fixtures, Simba will face the record-breaking CAF Champions League champions, Al Ahly, TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo will face Esperance from Tunisia, and Atlético Petróleos from Angola will face South African powerhouse, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom will host Enyimba home games in the competition.
