Nairobi City Stars’ fast-rising striker Kevin Etemesi has ruled himself out of a move away from the club this season, saying that "he does not feel like he has achieved anything yet.”

Etemesi joined the club from Kangemi All Stars in October 2022, and has since scored 12 goals in the topflight in his debut campaign, netting a record five braces over that period.

The talented winger-cum centre forward has as a result, naturally attracted the interest of several clubs, including both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.

According to close sources, AFC Leopards are in the market for a centre forward, and Etemesi is one of the names on their wishlist following the end of the club’s transfer ban.

However, the former Kangemi All-Stars forward has ruled himself out of a move as he feels he still has a lot to improve on both individually and collectively.

“I see myself staying at City Stars because there are things about my game I still need to work on. I do not think I have achieved anything substantial at the club yet,” Etemesi told Pulse Sports.

Etemesi, 21, joined Nairobi City Stars as a versatile forward who could play anywhere across the front three and even in the midfield areas, but has gradually found centre forward his best position, scoring important goals that helped steer the Nicholas Muyoti-coached outfit away from the relegation places.

Muyoti was full of praise for the forward, describing him as 'undroppable' as a result of his increasing influence in the side.

“Since Etemesi came into the team, we have seen tremendous growth,” he said. “He has grown into a highly reliable player," he added.

“If he misses from the first XI, you can now tell we are missing something and be like, 'how come he is out?'  We signed him as a winger and converted him into a number nine.

“As a nine, he is much more effective, he is holding up the ball well and linking the play. We have gotten his right position. He has also forced us into changing formation from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 just to maximise his strengths given the way he operates."
