AFC Leopards have tabled an offer for a talented Rwandese striker from Marines FC to bolster their attacking line-up.

Struggling to find their footing in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), twelve-time champions AFC Leopards have made a bold move to turn their fortunes around.

The club has officially tabled an offer for Rwandese striker Arthur Gitego, a rising star from Marines FC.

This move underscores Leopards' intent to inject new energy into their team, which has been grappling with underwhelming performances.

Gitego, a talent who has been turning heads with his remarkable skills on the field, is currently in the spotlight following his impressive stint at Marines FC.

As reported by The New Times of Rwanda, the young striker's contract with Marines is nearing its end.

"Gitego has just six months left on his Marines FC contract and Leopards have made an offer to sign him," reported the newspaper, highlighting the urgency of the situation for both the player and the interested clubs.

This is not the first time Gitego's talents have caught the eye of international clubs.

In the past year, he received offers from Georgian team FC Gagra and Tunisia's CA Bizertin.

However, both moves were hindered by Marines FC's reluctance to release their star player.

With the January transfer window approaching, Marines FC faces a tough decision: capitalize on Gitego's transfer value or risk losing him for free at the end of his contract.

Gitego's rising profile received a significant boost following his impressive performance for the Rwandan national team, Amavubi, in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

His contribution in the game, held at Huye Stadium in November 2023, has evidently enhanced his reputation as a promising talent in African football.

AFC Leopards, currently in a challenging 14th position in the league with just 15 points from 16 games, are desperate to bolster their attacking options.

Ingwe's head coach Tomas Trucha recently expressed the team's need for a prolific striker.

"We need to start looking in the market for somebody who can score the goals more than our players, but I trust them in every training and I believe we will start scoring. The striker could be big or small, but we just need a goal scorer," said Trucha, emphasizing the urgency of their situation.

The potential acquisition of Gitego could be a game-changer for the Leopards.

With only two wins this season and a meager goal tally that is among the lowest in the league, a player of Gitego's caliber could provide the much-needed spark to reignite their campaign.

His ability to find the back of the net consistently has been evident in the Rwandan league, making him a hot prospect for teams looking to strengthen their front line.
