AFC Leopards managed a slim 1-0 Football Kenya Federation Premier League win against Nozia Sugar in a match played at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
Ojo Olaniyi’s goal made the difference as Ingwe managed a league win for the first time since their last victory over Bandari on March 29.
The Sugar Millers, after finding it hard to penetrate the Leopards’ backline before, won a foul just outside the box in one of the dangerous moves they made in the 11th minute. Kevin Juma took on the duties of delivering the set-piece, but his effort went wide.

Leopards aim to generate funds to help them achieve their goals of attaining success on and off the pitch.
Peter Thiong’o, after a fine run along the right flank, almost created havoc in Nzoia’s penalty box, but Kevin Maliachi, after tracking the forward from some yards back, made a vital block as he clinically dispossessed the Ingwe forward in the 14th minute.
The home side produced a nice build-up right from the midfield, and Jaffery Owiti did well to find Victor Omune inside the box with a pinpoint pass from the left in the 23rd minute.
Omune attempted to volley the ball over, but Nzoia’s goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi reacted by diving to his left side and punching the ball away, thus denying Ingwe a very open goalscoring chance.

Gor and AFC Leopards will clash in the Mashemeji Derby on May 14 at Nayayo National Stadium.
Nzoia remained the more dominant force in the midfield, and Ingwe struggled to keep up with the visitors. In the 27th minute, Hassan Beja produced a defense-splitting pass that found James Mwangi. However, Levis Opiyo left his line to clear the danger before the Sugar Millers’ forward could strike from close range.
The offside flag was raised anyway, and a goal would not have stood, but it does not take away the fact that Ingwe struggled to contain Beja, Mwangi, and Yassin Sije.
Kibande scored in the 33rd minute, but the goal did not stand as he was offside. How Nzoia executed their move and created space for Kibande was just another illustration of how Ingwe struggled to get answers when the visitors attacked.
Despite Nzoia’s dominance and chances not taken, Leopards broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when Olaniyi scored.
The Bungoma-based side failed to equalize in the 48th minute when Sije, from close range and unmarked, missed the target.

Leopards have played their last three fixtures without their fans.
In an attempt to contain Ingwe, who were more determined and hungry than they were in the first half, Nzoia made three changes a minute before the hour mark. Alfred Emoni, Steven Otieno, and Vincent Mahiga came on in place of Maliachi, Sije, and Kibande.
Patrick Aussems waited and made his change two minutes past the hour mark when he introduced Maxwell Otieno in place of Brian Wanyama, who had been yellow carded in the 53rd minute.
Robert Mudenyu made a vital block in the 77th minute after Boniface Munyendo and Emoni produced brilliant interplay. Munyendo found his teammate inside the box with a clever pass, and as the Nzoia star was about to pull the trigger, Mudenyu arrived and cleared.
The Sugar Millers had to do duty in the five added minutes after regulation time with fewer men as Juma was red carded for a second bookable offense.
