Ingwe have named new captains ahead of season opener as they look for fresh leadership on the pitch.

AFC Leopards have named Clifton Miheso as the club’s new captain to replace Washington Munene who was among players who left the club.

Miheso returned to Ingwe at the start of last season and was one of their impressive players as they overcame a difficult start to finish fifth in the FKF Premier League.

The experienced winger rejoined Leopards after leaving Kenya Police, being his second stint at the club after a short-term deal in 2016, after which he went on to play in South Africa, Zambia and Portugal as well as Gor Mahia.

Miheso wore the captain’s armband on a number of occasions last season, making it a seamless transition as Ingwe looks for some leadership on the pitch.

Leopards have also appointed midfielder Victor Omune, defender Lewis Bandi and goalkeeper Levis Opiyo as miheso’s deputies.

Omune was named Leopards Player of the Season, at the club’s end of the season gala this week, while Opiyo was handed a new one-year contract recently.

Leopards begin their season with a clash against Mathare United on Sunday with coach Tomas Trucha looking for a better start than last campaign.

The club has already brought in four players in South Sudan national team captain Peter Maker Manyang Mabok, Julius Masaba, Sydney Lokale, and Samwel Semo to help steady the ship in 2024-25.
