Ingwe coach Tomas Trucha apologizes after a 3-2 loss to Nairobi City Stars, vowing improvement against Posta Rangers.

AFC Leopards  head coach Tomas Trucha has expressed his sincere apologies to the club's faithful following a heart-wrenching 3-2 defeat at the hands of Nairobi City Stars.

Saturday's Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani left fans and players grappling with a mix of emotions.

The match began with promise as both teams exhibited a hunger for victory in what was the tenth game of the 2023/2024 season.

However, it was Vincent Owino of Nairobi City Stars who broke the deadlock, skillfully converting a free-kick just before halftime.

The second half saw Samuel Kapen doubling the lead for City Stars, with Owino notching his brace shortly after.

Despite a late resurgence from Leopards with goals by Brian Yakhama and Vincent Otieno, the match ended with the Leopards grappling with defeat.

In a poignant post-match interview, coach Trucha, wearing his heart on his sleeve, stated;

 “We controlled the game, maintaining possession and creating chances. Despite some shots, we conceded a goal seemingly out of nowhere, possibly due to a lack of communication between the goalkeeper and the players in the wall.”

Trucha lamented the lapses in communication that led to the team's downfall.

 “In the second half, considering we had played three games in six days, I aimed to introduce fresh legs. However, another miscommunication between the defense and the goalkeeper led to us conceding a second goal," he explained.

With the defeat leaving a scar on the club's image, Trucha acknowledged the disappointment but chose to focus on the resilience shown by his squad.

 “We persevered and managed to score two goals," he remarked. "But we owe an apology to our fans. They continued to support us even when we were down 3-0.We need to regroup and will analyze our performance thoroughly as we look forward to the next game against Posta Rangers," he affirmed.

The loss has significant implications for AFC Leopards, dropping them to the 15th position with eight points after 10 matches this season.

As the Leopards prepare to face table leaders Posta Rangers in their upcoming match, the team and its supporters hold onto hope for a turnaround in fortunes.
