AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani has been challenged to knock off title chasers Gor Mahia, Kenya Police and Co of their perch.
AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani faces a daunting challenge in the FKF Premier League as he attempts to steer his team to their first league title in 26 years.
Appointed in November 2024 following the dismissal of Thomas Trucha, Ambani has since led the team to a respectable fifth-place position with 36 points.
However, his ultimate task remains clear—dismantle the dominance of title contenders Kenya Police, Tusker, Gor Mahia, and KCB.

Benni McCarthy 'surprised' by Harambee Stars' quality ahead of World Cup qualifiers
Former Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi has shed light on Benni McCarthy's thoughts on the quality of the Kenyan national football team.
With Kenya Police leading the league at 45 points, followed closely by Tusker (44), Gor Mahia (42), and KCB (39), Leopards currently find themselves trailing by 9 points.
To stand a chance at the title, Ambani must inspire his squad to close the gap in the coming fixtures, a task easier said than done.
Their latest outing saw them drop crucial points in a 1-1 draw against Shabana FC, a result that did little to boost their title ambitions.
With tougher fixtures ahead, Leopards must sharpen their attack and tighten their defense to remain in the title race.

Forgotten Gor Mahia home set to roar back as renovation is underway
The Joe Kadenge stadium, formerly City stadium, which previously served as home ground for Gor Mahia is expected to be in usable condition following renovations.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, AFC Leopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu acknowledged Ambani's efforts but emphasized the need for an extra push.
"So far, I can say he has tried, and I still urge him to put in more effort because there are some teams up there on the log standings, and we have to work hard to elbow them—Kenya Police FC, Tusker, Gor Mahia, and KCB—if we want to finish top," Andugu stated.
Despite the uphill battle, Andugu assured that the club’s leadership remains firmly behind the coach, emphasizing the importance of unity among players, management, and fans.
"We, however, continue supporting Ambani as he teams up with the technical bench to ensure we lift the title this season. We also need our fans to be fully behind the team and the officials," he added.

Benni McCarthy’s Harambee Stars assistant slams South Africa’s best team over lack of sportsmanship
Harambee Stars goalkeeper trainer Moeneeb Josephs has hit out at the South African giants for not showing respect and sportsmanship following their recent league loss.
With a rich history and a passionate fanbase, AFC Leopards remain eager to reclaim their past glory.
However, to achieve that, Ambani must navigate through a fiercely competitive title race, ensuring consistency in performance while overcoming formidable opponents.
Their next test against Kakamega Homeboyz will be a defining moment. A win in this encounter is crucial if Ambani's men are to maintain pressure on the top four teams.
