FKF Cup, launched last week begun in earnest with several fixtures.
AFC Leopards beat Zitech Titans 2-0 in the FKF Cup Last 32 match at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Saturday afternoon.
The win sees Ingwe advance to the Last 16, while the Students bowed out of the tournament.
Leopards got off to a flying start as they grabbed the opener in the seventh minute of the match as the hosts caught the Students by surprise.
Lewis Esambe was a constant threat in the final third but he should have doubled the lead in the 17th minute when he was picked out by Peter Nganga at the far post but he was unable to fire Kevin Oduor.
Zetech had their first chance in the 28th minute when Abdallah Yusuf set-up Yaro Yoann in the box with a cross from the right, but the latter failed to make proper contact on his header to trouble Leopards goalkeeper Levis Opiyo.
Opiyo was then called into action and he denied Warren Mugere with a low save, before keeping out Prince Ila's header with a brilliant one-handed save.
The pressure was mounting on Leopards and they nearly conceded following a defensive mistake, but Opiyo came to the rescue as he denied Castro Otieno from close range after some good work by Aron Ouma.
However, Leopards were deservedly leading 1-0 at the interval following a first half which they dominated.
Zetech came out oozing with confidence in the second half, but they found it difficult to penetrate the Leopards defense which was marshaled by the experienced Collins Shivachi.
Patrick Aussems decided to introduce Jafari Owiti who nearly made an immediate impact when his cross found Cliff Nyakeya at the near-post, but the striker's header was easily saved by Kevin Oduor at the Student’s goal.
Leopards doubled their lead in the 78th minute when Cliff Nyakeya turned home a low cross from the right flank by Victor Omune to put clear daylight between the teams.
After 80 minutes of action, Levy Odhiambo came close to beating Levis Opiyo after a great run, but his pass was poor as he tried to lay the ball off for the unmarked Graphine Ondondo in the box.
As Bernard Kitolo’s men rushed to find a consolation, they were awarded a set piece in the 88th minute, but Oduor produced a wonderful save from Peter Nganga following a well struck free kick on the right side of the field.
