AFC Leopards have remained silent amid speculation surrounding Tomas Trucha's future, sparking intrigue ahead of their crucial league match.

Tomas Trucha’s hours at AFC Leopards appear numbered as the 12-time FKF Premier League champions embark on a new chapter under interim head coach Fred Ambani and assistant Kenneth Wendo.

The two former players, now entrusted with reviving the club’s fortunes, will take charge in Sunday’s pivotal clash against Kenya Police at Dandora Stadium.

The decision to part ways with Trucha was inevitable after a string of poor performances that left the club languishing in 10th place on the league table with just 11 points.

Sources close to the club reveal that strained relationships between Trucha and the playing unit, as well as disagreements with the technical team, played a key role in his downfall.

“He wasn’t reading from the same script as Ambani or the players, and that friction was affecting the results,” a source close to the club disclosed.

Trucha’s tenure which initially held promise was marred by internal discord and mounting pressure from fans who demanded improved performances or his resignation.

The tipping point came after a humbling 2-0 defeat to Shabana, the latest in a series of losses that saw Leopards fall from grace.

As the dust settles on Trucha’s exit, focus shifts to Fred Ambani and Kenneth Wendo.

The duo led Saturday morning’s training session at Jamhuri Grounds, rallying the players to regroup ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“This is a big opportunity for them to prove themselves,” said a club insider.

“Ambani has always been a student of the game, and his philosophy could align better with what the players need right now. If he can deliver results, who knows? He might just be the answer Leopards are looking for.”

The task ahead, however, is daunting.

Leopards face a tricky run of fixtures, beginning with the disciplined Kenya Police before heading to Mumias Sports Complex to battle the unpredictable Kakamega Homeboyz.

A home clash against high-flying Tusker FC follows before squaring off with Sofapaka.

Interestingly, Ambani’s history with Trucha has not been without its challenges.

Pulse Sports understands the two often clashed over matters of team management and tactical approaches.

With Trucha now out of the picture, Ambani has the freedom to implement his vision and restore pride to the club.

Meanwhile, negotiations between Trucha and the club’s hierarchy over a mutual termination of his contract are ongoing.

Despite having nine months left on his deal, the two parties are working to ensure an amicable split.

Trucha’s exit will mark the second time he departs the club under contentious circumstances, having resigned in December 2020 citing threats to his life and his agent’s safety.
