'We don't want to make a change' — Atalanta president rules out sale of Lookman in winter
Atalanta's president shuts down suggestion of a January exit for Ademola Lookman.
His goal not only sealed the win and secured three important points for Atalanta but also extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches across all competitions, including an impressive nine consecutive victories.
The match started with former Milan star Charles De Ketelaere giving Atalanta an early lead with a powerful header against his former club. However, Álvaro Morata quickly equalised for Milan, setting the stage for a tense battle.
Despite enduring a quiet outing for most of the match, Lookma was forced to be patient and wait for his moment.
He came close to scoring twice but was denied by the Milan goalkeeper. Just when it seemed both teams would settle for a draw, Lookman took advantage of a lapse in concentration from the Milan defence in the 87th minute. He snuck in from a corner to deliver a stunning header that clinched the victory.
“What a way to start the weekend!” Lookman posted, alongside a picture of his celebration in Bergamo.
With this victory, Atalanta climbed to the top of the Serie A standings, leapfrogging Napoli, who sit two points behind but have a game in hand.
Lookman’s latest goal took his tally for the season to eight goals and four assists for La Dea.
