Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze could be joined in AC Milan by another Super Eagles star this summer
AC Milan has entered the race to secure the signature of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, with rivals Juventus also expressing interest in the highly-rated Super Eagles forward.
Milan's Search for Striking Reinforcement
As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan has earmarked Victor Boniface as their top alternative to primary target Joshua Zirkzee. With Olivier Giroud set to depart for LAFC at the end of his contract in June, Milan is keen on bolstering their attacking options for the 2024-25 season.
While Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee remains Milan's primary target, his hefty price tag, estimated to exceed €50 million, has prompted the Rossoneri to explore alternative options. Recent reports suggest that Bologna could demand as much as €75 million for the Dutch striker, a significant financial outlay for Milan.
Boniface Emerges as a Secondary Target
In light of the potential complications surrounding the Zirkzee deal, AC Milan has turned their attention to Victor Boniface as a viable alternative. The Nigerian international, who currently plies his trade at Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly valued between €40 million to €50 million.
Victor Boniface has been on Milan's radar for some time, with the Serie A giants previously attempting to secure his services from Union St Gilloise. However, Bayer Leverkusen ultimately won the race for the striker's signature, shelling out over €20 million in 2023.
Boniface's Impressive Campaign
The 22-year-old Nigerian has been in scintillating form for Bayer Leverkusen, contributing 16 goals and nine assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season. His impressive performances have caught the attention of top clubs across Europe, including AC Milan and Juventus.
As AC Milan and Juventus vie for the coveted signature of Victor Boniface, the Nigerian striker finds himself at the center of a high-stakes transfer battle. With both clubs eager to reinforce their attacking options, Boniface's future promises to be an intriguing subplot in the upcoming transfer window. As negotiations unfold, Milan and Juventus will be hoping to secure the services of the talented Super Eagles star, whose potential impact could prove decisive in their respective pursuit of silverware.
