AC Milan beat Torino 1-0 after a Giroud second-half strike to end a seven-game winless run.
A strong defensive performance from the Rossoneri helped them beat Torino 1-0, ending a seven-game winless run.
AC Milan hosted Torino at the San Siro as they tried to pull themselves out of a rut that has seen them lose each of their last four games while failing to win any of the three before it.
After a scoreless first half, Milan appeared to be heading for another game without a win, but Giroud's strike in the 62nd minute off a Theo Hernandez assist was enough for Stefano Pioli's men to end their winless streak.
The win also end's Torino's two game winning run against Milan, helping the Rossoneri climb back to third, while Torino continue to sit just outside the top seven,
How it happened
The reasons for AC Milan's recent fortunes were evident in the first-half as Torino dominated proceedings, but the much-maligned Ciprian Tatarusanu was on his game as multiple saves from him denied the Turin-based club the lead.
The second half saw Pioli's men improve significantly, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud combining early on as they tried to give Milan the lead, but Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic denied the attempt. The Rossoneri would not be denied any further as Giroud rose highest and moved fastest to connect with a Theo Hernandez cross, heading into the bottom corner.
Torino got back to the level of dominance they enjoyed in the first-half, threatening an equaliser, but Milan's backline held on strong. Wilfried Singo came close to stealing the cheer of the San Siro but his header managed to go wide of the post. AC Milan managed to hold their own, blocking five of Torino's shooting attempts to celebrate their first win in seven games.
Ola Aina unused
Ola Aina was an unused substitute in this game after his assist helped Torino beat Udinese only five days ago. The goalscorer in that tie, Torino's French Ivorian Yann Karamoh also sarted from the bench.
Ivory Coast international Wilfried Singo started at right wing-back, and he came closest to equalising for the bulls late in the game.
