Flying Eagles defender Augustine Njoku has said ahead of Nigeria's second Africa U-20 Cup of Nations game, that the team is ready to fight against host Egypt.
The Flying Eagles on Sunday suffered an unfortunate start to the 2023 tournament, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of three-time finalists Senegal.
On Wednesday, Nigeria will get a chance to redeem itself, as they take on the tournament's hosts in front of their fans at the 75000-seater Cairo International Stadium.
Nigeria fully focused on the Egypt match
Speaking ahead of the game on the team's confidence level, Njoku who plays in Nigeria's Premier Football League with Abia Warriors, stated the team's sole intention was to fix the mistake of Sunday when they lost to Senegal.
"We will fight for victory over the Egyptian national team. The match will not be easy, but we have prepared well for it," the defender said in Tuesday's pre-match conference.
"We do not think about losing Senegal and we are ready to face the Egyptian national team. We know that our chances are difficult, but we will fight to book a ticket to qualify for the next round."
