Robinson Asenwa and Dennis Oalo scored for City Stars in the comeback victory

Gor Mahia's three-match unbeaten run came to a sudden halt with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars in a FKF Premier League match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Monday afternoon.

K'Ogalo dominated possession, territory and chances, but somehow contrived to lose the match to arguably the only two genuine opportunities their hosts created in the game.

The record champions took a 1-0 lead into halftime, courtesy of Lawrence Odhiambo, who found the back of the net in the 23rd minute. K'Ogalo aimed to return to winning ways following a goalless draw against leaders KCB in midweek.

After the restart, Robinson Asenwa leveled the score for City Stars at the hour's mark before Dennis Oalo sealed victory in the 68th minute.

This was City Stars' first win of the season after registering just two points in their opening five league matches. Edwin Buliba received his marching orders in the 89th minute for City Stars.

The win lifts City Stars to 17th position in the 18-team league while Gor Mahia remain ninth although the Leonardo Leiva charges have three games in hand.

Gor Mahia will hope to regroup for their weekend match against giant killers Murang'a Seal on Saturday.
