She suffered a concussion in their 1-0 loss to Zetech Sparks in early March.
Wendy Atieno will play no part in Thika Queens’ Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League (FKFWPL) clash against Bunyore Starlets this Sunday, head coach Fred Majani has confirmed.
There was hope that the striker would return to action before the end of March, but Queens’ boss announced that although she had resumed training, the 27-year-old is not yet ready for selection.
The striker suffered a head injury during an FKFWPL match against Zetech Sparks and was ruled out for one month.
In her absence, Queen’s coach Majani has disclosed that he will rely on the services of second striker Kris Kach.
“The second striker Kris Kach has no choice but to perform to her best and score goals without the first striker Wendy Atieno.
“Bunyore are not pushovers anymore and we must prepare well if we are to shake them off. We lost the first match against them while here in Thika and it will be more tricky in their backyard,” Majani said as per The Star.
Wendy Atieno currently leads the FKFPL’s Golden Boot race with 13 goals from 10 games played this season.
