Neglected Communications Authority, Talanta have found top-flight paths very slippery.
Talanta registered a morale-boosting victory after beating Bidco United 1-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match on Wednesday in Kasarani.
After holding reigning champions Tusker to a 1-1 draw in their previous game, Talanta managed to collect three points as Bidco fell to yet another loss just days after the Thika-based club went down to Gor Mahia.
Meanwhile, the home side would have grabbed a lead in the opening 17 minutes but wasted two of their best chances. Thomas Wainaina – a former Talanta defender who signed for Bidco in 2022 – delivered good crosses, but on both occasions, David Orem failed to put the ball into the back of the net.
Orem needed medical attention in the 31st minute and managed to come back for more action after he was stretchered off.
In the 34th minute, Talanta broke the deadlock – courtesy of December Kisaka’s goal - as they scored and punished their opponents, who were guilty of wasting chances.
As the second half began, Bidco’s coach Ezekiel Akhulia made a change as he withdrew Orem and brought on experienced Ezekiel Okare.
More changes were made in the 68th minute, with Brian Nyakan and Zachariah Gathu coming in to replace Benson Iregi and Alex Keke.
Wainaina’s 71st-minute free-kick was another realistic chance for Bidco to score, but Talanta’s goalkeeper, James Omusinde, was equal to the challenge as he parried the ball over the bar.
Bidco’s fight to restore parity was futile even with the late introduction of Jon Nairuka and Said Tsuma, who replaced Erick Gichimu and Michael Bodo.
The result leaves Bidco 12th with 23 points, while Talanta have moved way above the relegation zone and are now 14th.
