Esports Kenya Federation has been handed a major boost after the Ministry of Sports affirmed its backing for the partnership with gaming giant AOC.
The Ministry of Sports has formally endorsed Kenya’s burgeoning eSports industry, marking a significant milestone for the gaming sector.
This move comes through a collaboration between the Electronic Sports Kenya Federation (ESKF) and global gaming giant AOC, which was unveiled in a ceremony led by Principal Secretary for Sports, Eng. Peter Tum.
As part of the partnership, AOC has donated 40 state-of-the-art gaming monitors to support the development of eSports talent in Kenya.
The donation aims to equip young gamers with cutting-edge tools to hone their skills and compete on a global level.
Speaking at the event, Tum praised AOC Gaming for their commitment to Kenyan youth and reaffirmed the government's dedication to fostering an environment where talent can thrive.
“When you look at Kenya in this region and even in Africa, we are second to none in technology,” Tum stated.
“We cannot only lead in innovations like M-pesa and others but must also lead in esports. This partnership showcases the Ministry’s deliberate decision to support the Federation, recognize AOC’s generosity, and emphasize the government’s youth-centered agenda across ministries.”
Tum also highlighted the importance of providing the latest technology to ensure Kenyan eSports players are competitive on the world stage.
“These monitors represent the latest in gaming technology, ensuring our youth train on the best equipment available,” he said.
At the same time, AOC MEA Regional Manager, Pankaj Budhiraj, echoed these sentiments, emphasising the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
