Kenyatta University student Joash 'Jojo"Agutu has been crowned the new eLigue1Tour champion following a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Mombasa’s Harun Ahmed at Charter Hall, Nairobi on March 28, 2025.
The 23-year-old demolished Collins Ngugi 7-1 in the quarterfinals while at the semifinal, Agutu cruised past tournament favorite Harry Kappa to record a 4-3 win.

Agutu was rewarded Ksh. 25,000 and a dream trip to Paris, France—courtesy of Ligue 1 McDonald’s. Runner-up Harun did not leave the stage empty-handed either, pocketing Ksh. 15,000 for his valiant run.
“I am so happy. Last year, I bottled in the finals but clearly God’s time is the best. He wanted it this way, that I would win this year. I have worked so hard on this and it's great to see the fruits of my work,” said Agutu as per statement by EA Sports sent to media houses.
In the lady's category, 14-year-old Brillian “Bree” Nekesa announced her arrival in an emphatic fashion.
Nekesa obliterated Shirley Ndirangu 7-0 in the semifinals before thrashing Shantel Njogu 9-2 in the final.
“I am so happy to make it as a champion in my first time of trying. I had some nerves playing on the stage for the first time, but my coach helped me calm down and stick to the plan. When I am composed, I can overcome any player,” she said.
