The state-of-the-art facility will be located at MKU's main campus in Thika Town.

In the recently released Forbes Africa's Top 30 Under 30 list of innovators which included comedienne Elsa Majimbo, notably there was also a video games star, Slyvia Gathoni.
Under the collaboration, Mount Kenya University will provide the necessary space, operational support, and integrate esports into its academic offerings.
Meanwhile, Esports Kenya Federation will equip the center with the latest gaming technology, technical expertise, and training programs.
Spanning 154 square meters, the center is designed to be a hub for aspiring esports professionals, including players, coaches, and referees.
During the announcement at MKU's 25th graduation ceremony, MKU Chairman Prof. Gicharu expressed his excitement about the initiative.
“To our GenZ who are active in esports, I am delighted to announce that MKU in collaboration with Esports Kenya Federation will establish an esports training center. It will equip our students with skills that will enable them to generate an income and even make a career via their hobby,” said Prof. Gicharu.
The training center will not only focus on gaming but also cover a wide range of transferable skills such as streaming, content creation, and game development. This holistic approach is intended to prepare participants for various career paths within the esports industry.

With the global esports market rapidly expanding there is a significant demand for skilled professionals in the field.
