Sealing his victory with a devastating right punch, Okaka sets his sights on becoming the African champion.

Kenyan light-heavyweight pugilist Robert Okaka has narrated his remarkable victory against Ugandan newcomer Idris Mukiibi in the thrilling Africa Boxing Championships pre-quarterfinal bout in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

With an outstanding display of power and precision, Okaka secured a resounding victory by Referee Stop Contest (RSC) in Round 1, leaving no doubt about his determination to bring home the Africa Championship title.

In a match that had fans on the edge of their seats, Okaka charged at his opponent with relentless fury, as if fueled by a long-standing land dispute between them.

From the first bell, it was evident that the Kenyan boxer was here to claim victory, and he wasted no time in asserting his dominance.

Delivering a series of powerful blows, he subjected Mukiibi to two standing counts, leaving the Ugandan struggling to keep up with his onslaught.

Recounting the pivotal moment of the fight, Okaka spoke about his strategy, saying, "I punched him on his right, and I saw him struggling, and then I followed him with another and went down to the canvas."

The referee, recognising the danger Mukiibi was in, wisely waved off the contest to spare the Ugandan boxer from further punishment at the hands of his relentless Kenyan neighbour.

Looking ahead to his next challenge, Okaka expressed his unwavering ambition to bring glory to his country.

"Next, I will face a Cameroonian boxer, and I will carry the same spirit to the next fight. I want to win for my country. I want to be the African champion," he proclaimed.

As the preliminaries of the championship unfolded on Sunday night, another Kenyan boxer, captain Boniface Mugunde, delivered an exceptional performance, qualifying for the quarter-finals. In a closely contested match against Burundian Nestor Nduwarugira,

Mugunde secured a hard-fought victory with a score of 4-1 (28:29, 27:30, 29:28, 27:30, and 28:29). Mugunde's victory served as a testament to Kenya's boxing prowess and added to the growing anticipation of Okaka's next showdown.

The upcoming quarter-final match between Okaka and the Cameroonian challenger promises to be a spectacle for boxing enthusiasts across the continent.

With both fighters hungry for victory, fans can expect a showdown that will push the boundaries of skill, strength, and strategy.
