The duo is expected to lock horns on Saturday 22 July at the Sarit Expo Center.

Former Africa Boxing Union (ABU) champion Daniel Wanyonyi has invented a punching technique called Dusra that he intends to silence his arch-rival, Tanzania’s loudmouthed Karim Mtu Kazi Mandonga in their highly-anticipated bout scheduled for Saturday 22 July at the Sarit Expo Center.

Wanyonyi sent a stark warning to Mandonga noting that only one punch will knock him out and silence him. During their previous encounter back in January, Wanyonyi disappointingly lost to the Tanzanian on home soil and vowed that it will never happen again.

“I know you are watching me now…this time around, I have prepared a very strong punch for you. I will just punch you once…not twice, and you’ll be down…it’s called Dusra.

"This one has been invented in the country and it’s not imported…it’s very original. The doctor had advised me not to implement it but I will have no choice but to do it,” Wanyonyi said as quoted by KTN Sport.

Mandonga has been synonymous with similar theatrics of coining names for his punches before fights which has earned him a massive following across the region.

Meanwhile, Wanyonyi’s coach Julius Odhiambo also believes there is no room for Mandonga to beat Wanyonyi since he has been preparing well for the bout.

He revealed that in January, Wanyonyi was going through personal struggles and therefore could not train effectively for the event.

“Mandonga can’t beat Wanyonyi again…in January, Wanyonyi only trained for one week and then went to fight. This time around, things will be different,” he said.
