Flamboyant politician Mike Sonko has announced that legendary boxers Conjestina Achieng and Fatuma Zarika will face off at the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, June 11.

On her part, Zarika decided to take a break from boxing after the covid-19 hit and all her efforts to organise bouts failed. She had also secured a job at Round 10 Boxing Gymnasium in Dubai and since the pandemic had come with a storm, she could not manage to travel.
In a post on his Twitter account, Sonko urged fans to avail themselves since the entry is free and they will get a chance to watch two of the best boxers in the country. Apart from the two pugilists fighting, the stage will also be set for young boxers to showcase their skills.
He said: “The true measure of success is determined by how high you bounce back after you hit the bottom. Today, June 11, 2023, two female boxing legends and superstars Conjestina Achieng and Fatuma Zarika will be facing off against one another at a friendly boxing match I have organized.
The match will be happening in Mombasa at the Mombasa Women's rehabilitation center from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We shall also have upcoming boxers who will also be competing.
