Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has urged the Boxing Federation of Kenya to put their house in order ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Ababu revealed that they should start scouting for pugilist who will represent the country in the global stage. He added that after that, the Ministry is willing to look for funds to support their quest.

“The government is ready to support boxing in the country. I want to urge the BFK to put in place systems and ensure that they select a formidable team for the Olympics next year.

We have a plan to ensure that all teams to represent the country at the Olympics have specialised training so that they can fly the country’s flag high,” Namwamba said.

He revealed that he was in Cuba recently where he signed a Memorandum of Understanding where Team Kenya will be able to train in the Caribbean country.

“When they are ready, they should just present the strategic plan and from then we will hold their hand,” he said.

Ababu also pledged to support Sarah Achieng, popularly known as the Angel of War, as she takes on Argentina’s Edith Soledad Matthysse today evening, June 10 at the Nairobi Charter Hall.

“We shall be there to give Achieng motivation and also to show that we support boxing as a sport in this country,” he said.
