The local federation has set a new date for the convocation.

The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has set a new date for its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

According to the KBF Secretary-General Ambrose Kisoi the exercise, which will come before the commencement of the new season, will be held on Sunday 30th April.

"Reference to the notice of postponement dated April 12, 2023; the Annual General Meeting is now rescheduled for Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Nyayo National Stadium basketball gymnasium at 1400 hrs," the letter read in part.

On Thursday, the federation sent a notice to its members, indicating that the meeting had been rescheduled to Friday, May 5.

But various stakeholders questioned the timing as the federation’s constitution dictates that the basketball governing body must hold an election before the end of April of any calendar year.

The federation maintained that the postponement was due to mourning of their sister volleyball federation following the demise of their president, the late Waithaka Kioni.

The key agenda of the meeting is the appointment of auditors and the consideration of annual audited accounts.

Other key points include reading notices convening the meeting, confirming minutes of previous meetings, and receiving and considering the chairman's report and activities report.

Various reports, however, indicate that clubs have not been availed with audited accounts, which the constitution stipulates that members must have 21 days before the AGM.
