LeBron James remains one of the marvels of the sporting world despite his age.

The four-time NBA champion who will be celebrating his 40th birthday on December 30, is still as dominant a force as ever on the basketball court.

James, who is spearheading the Los Angeles Lakers team title bid, guided the USA all-star cast to the Paris Olympics gold medal. The four-time NBA MVP award winner has shown no signs of slowing down yet.

James who is in his 22nd season with the Lakers said he values time and sleep more than the medals and individual awards he has bagged in his career that dates back to 2005 when he was rudely introduced into the fitness-demanding game.

When quizzed on what he would love to spend more but can't necessarily pay for, he told Olymics.com: 'It's just the time." Sleep is equally a priceless component that has kept the NBA all-time top scorer on top of his game for the longest.

"We tried it all in 20 years. But the most important thing is what he gets for free, and that’s sleep,” James’ personal trainer Mike Mancais told Netflix, highlighting its importance. "Sleep is the best recovery that you can have,” James confirmed. “It’s basically equivalent to you putting your phone on a charger when you go to bed. Am I able to do it every single night? Of course not. But if you try to get the most sleep that you can get, that is the only way you’re gonna get back to 100 per cent.”

Outlining a typical matchday for the Lakers at home, James reserves 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm for naps. Rest more generally plays a significant role in ensuring the LA Lakers frontman can play while in peak condition..
