The Nigerian league winner, who led his side to another brilliant outing, noted that the Nobles are a very strong team.
Kwara Falcons manager Jubril Baba has nothing but admiration for the Spintex Knights basketball club of Ghana.
Spintex Knights battled Baba’s Falcons in the final of the recently concluded maiden edition of the Louis Edem Basketball Championship in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Nigerian champions emerged winners after an intense 57-65 points win over the brave Ghanaians in the final on Saturday night.
Spintex are a strong team
The Ghana side, who were the only invited team in the ten-team tournament, represented their nation proudly and won three of five jollof wars.
However, when it mattered most, in the final and for N2 million, the Nobles came short against Nigeria’s best team, Kwara Falcons.
Following their win on Saturday, Falcons boss, Baba, spoke exclusively to Pulse Sports Nigeria.
During the chat, the excited serial winner stated that the Knights were good and strong and this meant his side had to play defense to contain the Ghanaians.
“Yes, they are strong, a very good team,” Baba replied when asked about how his team was able to contain the strong Knights.
“We watched them play, at least they beat some strong teams and so, we knew what to do. We knew you had to play defense (against them) and that's what gave us the game.”
Speaking further, Baba added that the Falcons needed to defend to contain the Knights and their good shooters.
“We played defense, they have great shooters and everything,” he added. “So, you (have to) contain them a lot and that's what we did that gave us the game.”
Kwara Falcons received N2 million for their victory in the final while Spintex Knights for N1 million as runners-up.
