Kisoi advised the teams and players that will be willing to participate to ensure they register by the close of business today, April 30.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) is set to hold the 3x3 Basketball National Trials on Monday, May 1 at the Strathmore University Sports Complex.

As reported by Africa Press, KBF Secretary Ambrose Kisoi said the event will be staged in a quest to select the best players for the upcoming tournaments.

In a statement, Ambrose Kisoi, the KBF secretary, said the exercise will be used to select the best players for upcoming competitions including the Paris Olympics in 2024. It will be part of the federation’s effort to select the best talents and nurture them ahead of other international tournaments too.

The teams to be picked, in both the male and female categories, will feature the Under-17 and Under-23 as well as seniors.

Kisoi advised the teams and players that will be willing to participate to ensure they register by the close of business today, April 30. Teams and players wishing to participate are advised to register by Sunday,” said Kisoi.

Kisoi added that for any player wishing to participate, they must be in possession of a passport, issued not later than January 1, 2022, and must open and register a 3x3 Fiba account. He said the trials are mandatory for locally-based players who want to represent the country at future competitions.

Going forward, Kisoi noted that they will then turn their focus on the diaspora based on their performances, which will be evaluated by a technical panel.

Those picked in the U-17 category will be eligible for the continental championships and not the Olympic Games. All selected players, Kisoi said, will be required to commit their availability for all preparations leading to the Olympic Games.
