D'Tigers star Chimezie Metu has cause for celebration as Sacramento Kings make playoff for the 1st time in 16 years
The Sacramento Kings recorded a 120-80 victory away against the Portland TrailBlazers in an NBA fixture played in the early hours of Thursday, March 30, 2023.
It started out as a slugfest with both teams struggling on offense.
The Kings were able to get going with a 31-point second quarter to establish a four-point lead at the halftime break.
The Kings led by point guard De'Aaron Fox came back from the break reenergized and put up 33 points to extend their advantage to 19 points.
It was a massacre in the fourth quarter as a relentless Kings side were on fire to produce 37 points.
The Kings with the second unit to close the game wrapped up a 40-point victory against the western conference rivals.
Chimezie Metu features for Sacramento Kings
Nigerian-American professional basketball player Chimezie Metu was involved in the Kings' victory against the Trail Blazers.
The 26-year-old came off the bench as part of the Kings' second unit that closed out the game.
In just six minutes of action, Metu contributed two points and grabbed five rebounds making just one of two shots.
Chimezie Metu makes history with the Sacramento Kings
The Kings made history with their victory away against the TrailBlazers as the beam was lit at the Golden One center in Sacramento.
It was the Kings' 46th victory of the season as they sit third in the western conference.
It is also their highest tally of victories in the last fifteen years and sparked wild celebrations on social media.
The Kings with the victory booked their place in the playoffs for the first time in 17 years.

The Kings clinched a spot in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, snapping the longest postseason drought of any U.S. major professional sports team.
Speaking after the game Kings Head Coach Mike Brown praised his team for their accomplishment.
He said, "Shout out to everyone in this locker room everyone had a big part um in doing this.
"So appreciate all you guys, great job everybody."
The Kings still have a chance to move up to the third seed as they return to action against the Trail Blazers again on Saturday, April 1, 2023.
