After cruising smoothly to the semifinal of the men's 100m, Noah Lyles has disclosed the specific time target he wants to achieve at the USTAF Olympic trials.

Olympic 200m bronze medallist Noah Lyles has revealed the specific time target he wants to run in the men’s 100m at the USTAF Olympic trials at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Lyles has been off to a great start, clocking 9.92 in the heats and advancing to the semifinal of the race where he faces off against a strong field comprising Kenny Bednarek, Christian Coleman, High Schooler Christian Miller and Fred Kerley among others.

However, he is confident in the training he has been doing and remains unshaken ahead of the rest of the races awaiting him. He also admitted that going into the races as an Olympian is a confidence booster and he believes in his capability to qualify for the Olympic Games again.

“I definitely want to hit 9.7…I want to get into that range and I’m sure that it will come owing to what we’ve done in training.

“It’s just focusing in and not racing the clock and running to win and letting your body As an Olympian, it’s a huge confidence booster coming here to race knowing that you have been here before and know what it takes to win,” the American said.

The triple world champion added that with his win in the heats, he does not feel any pressure. Lyles disclosed that last year was different since he was not among the fastest going into the trials and people did not believe in his abilities.

This season, he has been off to a great start and he is keen on building up on that towards the global bonanza. He also believes that being able to make it last year is proof that he is able to repeat everything and even do much better.

“After that round, I’d say no pressure. I don’t feel much pressure and I’m coming in as the fastest man, unlike last year. If I did it last year, then I have the potential of doing it again. They are watching it together but I haven’t met the guy…my mother met him before me,” he said.
