Underwhelming performances from Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and the mixed 4x400m relay team saw them fail to make the finals at the World Championships in Budapest.

Team Nigeria began its campaign at the World Championships in Budapest on a not-too-bright note as Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and the mixed 4x400m relay team failed to make the finals of their events.

Enekwechi threw a distance of 20.68m in the men's shot put qualifying round, which wasn't good enough to be among the top 12 qualifiers.

The Nigerian Record holder will be disappointed with his performance as he needed at least a 21m throw to have a chance in the final, having finished eleventh in Oregon last year.

Consequently, the mixed 4x400m relay team comprising Dubem Nwachukwu, Patience Okon-George, Ezekiel Nathaniel, and Imaobong Uko were underwhelming in their qualifying round.

Though they clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 3:1438, it wasn't enough, as they finished a distant seventh in their heat.
