Kenyans are nowhere to be seen as World Athletics announced the list of the three finalists for the 2024 Women's Rising Star Award.
The awards are set to recognise the most outstanding athletes and in this case, it will recognise the best U20 athlete at the World Athletics Awards 2024.

One of the most outstanding Kenyan female athletes this season has been Mary Moraa’s cousin Sarah Moraa, but her performance was not impactful enough to be recognised by World Athletics.
As per World Athletics, the process of getting to the finalists looked at the athletes’ performances at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, World Athletics Indoor Championships, World Athletics U20 Championships, World Athletics Cross Country Championships, one-day meeting circuits and other events around the world.
The nominees include Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew who won the 3000m steeplechase title at the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima. The youngster also finished an impressive fifth at the Paris Olympic Games in the race won by Kenyan-born Bahraini Winfred Yavi.
Serbia’s Angelina Topic has also made the cut, thanks to her performance at the World Under-20 Championships where she won the high jump title. She also got to the final at the Paris Olympic Games and finished fifth at the World Indoor Championships fifth place.
Yan Ziyi of China has also been nominated as she set a world under-20 javelin record while winning the javelin title at the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima.
