'Without running there's no football' - Melissa Jefferson raves over importance of track and field in Netflix's SPRINT documentary

The South Carolina-born 23-year-old was part of the US 4x100m relay team that bagged gold at the Paris Olympics

Paris Olympic 100m bronze medalist Melissa Jefferson believes running is the origin and base of other sports and taking to the track in the short  distance races is a special feeling for her.

Jefferson, a Coastal Carolina alumni, featured in season 2 of Netflix's 'SPRINT' documentary.

Jefferson, who was part of the US 4x100m relay team that won gold in the Paris Olympics opines that athletics is a unique sport. "Without running there's no football, there's no baseball, there's no tennis. The base of almost all sports start with running. I'm hoping that people really see like....this is really special," she said.

The South Carolina-born 23-year-old revealed her excitement to feature in the documentary saying," I want to be able to see that the passion that I have for the sport, for the coaches, my family, my training partners....you know, they have all played a part in who I am. You know, I'm glad that  being part of these people means a lot to me. It is the origin where you get to."

Jefferson won 100m at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold LA Grand Prix meet in May 2024 added. She was a member of the USA team which won the 4x100m relay at the 2024 World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas.
