Tergat revealed that the two-time Olympic champion has shown that she is capable of performing well in both races and he believes she will be a perfect fit for reclaiming the 5000m Olympic title as she also looks to defend her 1500m crown.

“I would encourage her to take up the 1500m and 5000m at the Olympics. She has shown that she has the potential of doing well in both races, she can do the same next year,” Tergat told Nation.

The two-time world champion broke the 1500m world record at the Diamond League Meeting in Florence, Italy on June 2 before breaking the 5000m world record at the Meeting in Paris on June 9.
