Despite tough competition Letsile Tebogo set a new national record and personal best gearing up for Olympic success in Paris.

Botswana’s sprint sensation Letsile Tebogo has proved he is not just a fleeting star in the athletics arena.

With a new personal best and national record under his belt Tebogo is now firmly set on his path to the Paris Olympics.

At the final Diamond League event before the Olympics, held in London Tebogo clocked an impressive 9.88 seconds in the 100 meters placing him third behind world-class competitors.

This performance has not only shattered Botswana’s national record but also established Tebogo as one of the top contenders for the upcoming Olympic games.

"I'm feeling great, we're on the right track for the Olympics. Now I'm heading back to the camp in Paris to work out the final touches for the Olympics," said Tebogo.

Earlier this month, Tebogo had already set the stage with another personal best of 9.99 seconds at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary, securing a second-place finish.

This string of successful runs not only boosts his morale but also solidifies his status as a serious medal prospect for Botswana.

The journey to this point has been laden with milestones for Tebogo, who took home a silver medal at last year’s World Championships in Budapest.

His growth and consistency have been nothing short of phenomenal, shaping him into one of the biggest personalities in track and field today.

Meanwhile, Noah Lyles, who clinched the first place in London with a personal best of 9.81 seconds, and South Africa's Akani Simbine, who finished second with a season's best of 9.86 seconds, will also be ones to watch at the Olympics.

However, it is Tebogo with his recent performances and newfound confidence who might just be the dark horse ready to surprise the global audience.

As he returns to training camp to fine-tune his preparations, the support and expectations from his home country are sure to propel him toward aiming not just for a personal best but for Olympic glory.

Botswana watches eagerly as their star athlete moves closer to achieving what could be one of the best races of his career.
