Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has disclosed that he will wear three different spikes at the Paris Olympic Games.
He disclosed that the spikes will be specifically for the preliminaries, semifinal and the final of the men’s 100m, Omanyala’s core event at the Olympics.
The Commonwealth Games champion noted that each shoe will have different scriptures that will be revealed after the races or if the camera person would zoom in before starting the race.

“We start with the shoe reveal. At the Olympics, I’m planning to run with three different spikes, all new. In the heats, it will be a new spike, in the semis it will be a new spike and in the final, it will be a new spike,” Omanyala said in a video shared on his YouTube channel.
“But the difference will be in the heats, there will be a Bible verse that I will put it in the spikes of the heats. A different Bible verse will be in the semifinal and then a different Bible verse in the final,” he added.
He added that the message in the heats will be about gratitude to God for enabling him to race at his second Olympic Games after making his Olympic debut at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The message in the semifinal will be about seeking God for mental and physical strength since every athlete will be looking to make the final. He added that the message on his spikes in the final will be a covenant between himself and God.
“In the heats, I’ll give you a general. So we’ll reveal the verse after the heats or maybe if the camera can zoom in and see the verse. The heats will be about a verse that will be thanking God for the opportunity because not everyone who wanted to be at the athletics will be there,” Omanyala said.
“For that, I’ll be thanking God for that opportunity. For the semis, it will be about giving thanks to God again but asking for strength because the semifinal is always the hardest race getting to the final. It will be all about asking God for strength, asking for physical and mental strength. The final will be about a covenant with God,” Omanyala revealed.
