The Jamaican sprint legend is banking on Kishane Thompson & Oblique Seville to take the Caribbean Island back to the top as he predicted the mind blowing times he will run going forward.
Jamaican legend Asafa Powell has predicted why Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville will dominate World sprinting over the next few years.
The 2016 Rio Olympic champion noted that he has heard speculation that Thompson’s running style is the same as his and if that’s the case, then he will be able to get closer to Usain Bolt’s world record time of 9.58 seconds.
He explained that Thompson is still young and has the potential to run faster times before he retires. Thompson finished second behind Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m final at the Paris Olympics. The Olympic Games were his first global championship after he was forced to skip the World Championships last year due to an injury setback.

Asafa Powell has insisted that Kishane Thompson would have triumphed over Noah Lyles in the men's 100m final at the Paris Olympics, citing what made it difficult for the Jamaican youngster to win.

“I see Kishane running the 9.6 because this man is a beast, he is so powerful. People keep saying that he looks like me, you know, that he runs like me. Knowing myself and knowing what I was capable of doing if this man actually looks and runs like me, then he is capable of doing 9.6,” Powell told TVJ News Center.
The two-time world champion added that Oblique Seville is also an athlete to watch in upcoming championships following his impressive form at the start of the season.
Powell noted that the groin injury affected Seville in the final of the men’s 100m at the Olympic Games but he revealed that the 23-year-old is the next big thing.
The Jamaican sprint legend added that Jamaica is now back to the top when it comes to sprints and the whole world is behind the Caribbean nation. He bragged about the vibes Jamaica brings to the track and insisted that no other country has matched that.
“Because if Oblique hadn’t gotten that groin injury, who knows what could have happened? We are back in the game…I’m actually happy because no one would be asking me questions about where the Jamaicans are,” he said.
“They are back, you know, we are back on top and I think the world wants to see Jamaica on top again. The world loves to see Jamaica celebrating and they love the vibe that we bring because no one can match it.”
