The duo will join double world record holder Faith Kipyegon at the World Championships as they also seek to make a mark.

Youngsters Brenda Chebet and Nelly Chepchirchir will be in action tonight at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial – the penultimate meeting in this season’s World Athletics Continental Tour Gold – in Szekesfehervar, Hungary as preparations towards the World Championships ramp up.

The duo, who made it to Team Kenya after a great display during the national trials will join double world record holder Faith Kipyegon at the World Championships as they also seek to make a mark.

As a form of preparation for the same, they will be competing in the 1500m against a strong field in Hungary. Chepchirchir is the only athlete who has recorded a sub-four-minute performance so far this year on the start list and she will definitely be a pre-race favourite.

World Under-20 champion, Chebet, has also run decent times this year with her Seasons Best being 4:01.30. Stern competition will come from Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo and Spain’s Marta Perez but the juniors have proven to be unbeatable and their performance there will gauge what they have in store for the country when they head to the World Championships.

The action will start at 6:15 PM EAT and a two-hour live stream of the meeting will be available in a number of territories via the World Athletics YouTube channel. The women’s 1500m race will be at 6:55 PM EAT.

The live stream will be available in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Angola, Slovenia, Uganda, Ukraine, and the United States among other countries.

Other interesting races to watch will be when US National Champion Sha’Carri Richardson takes on a strong field with the hope of maintaining her unbeaten run. Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson will also be in action but she will be competing in the 200m.
