Kenyan headliners Amos Kipruto, Vincent Ngetich, Joyciline Jepkosgei and Ruth Chepngetich set to participate as Kelvin Kiptum honored.

Around 50,000 runners are set to participate in the 2024 Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 13.

This 46th edition of the marathon will showcase Kenyan stars, including Amos Kipruto, the 2022 London Marathon champion, and Vincent Ngetich, last year’s Berlin Marathon runner-up, in the men's race.

In the women's competition, Joyciline Jepkosgei, the World Half Marathon Championships silver medalist, and Ruth Chepngetich, last year's Chicago Marathon runner-up are to look out for.

According to Olympics.com, this year’s marathon will pay tribute to the late Kelvin Kiptum, who completed last year's race in an astonishing time of two hours and thirty-five seconds.

The 24-year-old tragically passed away in a car accident just four months after his remarkable achievement.

The marathon is scheduled to start at 7:20 a.m. (local time), with waves of runners departing from the starting line between 7:30 a.m. and 8:35 a.m.

The races are expected to continue into the early afternoon.
